Corner treatment

Corner treatment

Corner Treatment

The Corner Treatment panel is used to do various types of special handling at sharp corners of a laser cut. This panel is accessed by clicking near a corner of a laser cut.

  • Auto compute: When the auto-compute setting is turned on (the default), Flux computes a suitable corner processing based on the machine, LTT in use and the angle at the corner. If you want to edit the corner treatment, you need to turn this off.

  • Treatment: The type of corner treatment (see the table below for details). Some of the treatment methods have a parameter (like radius or time that is used to control the corner process).

  • Radius or Time (sec): Some treatments (like Rounding and Looping) need a radius as input. Some like the Dwell and Cool need a delay time.

  • The Selectors at the bottom of this panel can be used to extend the set of selected corners so they can all be edited together:

    • Similar on this contour: If you click on this, all the corners in this contour having a similar angle to the selected one get highlighted with small blue crosses. Then, all the edits you do will be applied to all these corners.[1]

    • All on this contour: Like the selector above, but selects all corners on this contour, regardless of angle.

    • Similar on all contours: Selects all similar corners (same angle) on all the tooled-up contours of the part so they can all be edited in parallel.

Treatment methods

The table below shows the different corner treatment methods. The Rounding and Looping methods visibly alter the geometry of the cut, while the other methods add a small icon at the corner to indicate the type of processing that is happening there.

Treatment Explanation Example

Do nothing

No corner processing performed

Rounding

Looping

Loops at the corners

Dwell

Cool

Stop

Slowdown

Slows down the laser at the corners

1. After you select multiple corners like this, remember to clear the Auto compute checkbox to turn it off for all the corners before you edit their settings.
